Privacy Policy

The short version: Solvent's calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you type into them are never sent to us, never stored on our servers, and never sold. This page explains that in full.
What we don't collect
When you use a Solvent calculator, everything you enter (your income, expenses, filing status, and any other figures) is processed on your own device, in your browser. It is not transmitted to Solvent, and we never see it or store it.
Data stored only on your device
Some tools, like the invoice generator, save your work so you can come back to it. That data (your invoices, business details, and history) is stored locally in your own browser using standard browser storage, and it stays on your device. We cannot access it. If you clear your browser data, it is deleted, which is why we offer a CSV export so you can keep your own copy.
The contact form
If you send a message through the contact form on our About page, it's processed by Formspree, which delivers it to us by email. Formspree has its own privacy policy governing what it collects when you submit a form. We use your message and email address only to reply to you, and we don't add you to any list or sell your information.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how visitors use Solvent, which pages get the most use, and where the site can improve. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your device type, browser, approximate location, and the pages you visit. That information is processed by Google under its own privacy policy, and we use it only in aggregate to improve the site, never to identify you personally. Google Analytics does not receive anything you type into a calculator, your calculator inputs stay in your browser. You can opt out with Google's browser opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Cookies
Solvent uses cookies set by Google Analytics to measure site usage, for example to tell whether you're a new or returning visitor. These are analytics cookies, not advertising cookies. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, and the calculators keep working normally either way.
Affiliate links
Some pages link to third-party products, and we may earn a commission if you sign up through them. Those third parties have their own privacy policies governing what they collect once you leave Solvent. Clicking an affiliate link does not share your calculator inputs or any personal data with them.
Children's privacy
Solvent is intended for adults managing their own taxes and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site grows. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above.
